International Student Program

Bennett Gastle is unique in its commitment to its international student intern program. Since 2000, interns have come to Canada from the Magistère, Droit des Affaires Fiscalité et Comptabilité, Universite D'Aix Marseille III located in Aix-en-provence in the south of France. While the program initially took place only during the summer months, students now come to the firm year-round, usually staying for a period of three to six months.

 

The students contribute to the culture of Bennett Gastle. It is a wonderful way to learn about different countries, their educational systems and the various ways law is practiced. An exciting development for Bennett Gastle is the extension of the program to other countries including: Brazil, Cambodia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, and Turkey.

 

For the past five years, Bennett Gastle has also hosted students from the graduating class of the Magistère  program in early May of each year. The program involves a series of lectures, welcome reception at the Consul General of France's residence in Forest Hill, and visits to various law firms throughout Toronto and to the Department of Justice.

 

By the end of the year, Bennett Gastle will have hosted 37 student interns in its firm including both graduate students and also summer students from the second year Magistre program.  From the graduating classes Bennett Gastle will have hosted 80 students at its firm during the spring trips to Canada.
